Court kicks out couple from mom's apartment

A court has ruled in favor of Liang, in her 70s, ordering her son and daughter-in-law out of her apartment in five days, in Nanning, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Liang took the couple to court after they refused to look after her and subjected her to frequent verbal abuse.

Nanning Qingcheng District People's Court on Monday ruled in favor of Liang after she produced a title deed in her name for the apartment .

Girlfriend filches octogenarian's cash

An 85-year-old man surnamed Xie is counting the cost of a failed relationship, after his girlfriend fled with 50,000 yuan ($7,143) in Chengmai, Hainan province.

Xie, whose wife died 45 years ago, met A Ju eight years ago. A Ju, who is 30 years his junior, moved in with Xie and started looking after his finances for him.

But A Ju left Xie 15 days ago, telling him she was going to visit her parents in another city. She never returned.

Xie's life savings of more than 40,000 yuan, plus 10,000 yuan worth of silver and gold, were withdrawn and taken. Xie doesn't know where her parents live.

Xie, who has taken to his bed, has been advised to seek police help.
