Bus drama as Mace defense backfires

A 19-year-old woman ended up out of pocket and apologizing after she tried to spray Mace at a man who was touching her hip on a bus.

Song was taking a bus in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, when she felt the man's hand on her hip.

Infuriated, Song whipped out her can of Mace and sprayed it at the man - but he ducked. The chemical hit another passenger, Shu, square in the eyes.

The bus stopped as the drama unfolded and the man for whom the Mace was intended fled.

Shu, meanwhile, was in agony and marched Song to the police. Song paid Shu's medical costs and apologized to him. Police said Song's can of Mace was an illegal product that she bought from the Internet.

Devoted family look after bedridden mum

Although Xu Xinghua has been bedridden for 10 years, she says she feels lucky.

Xu has been cared for by her devoted husband and son in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, since she contracted a rare disease that left her paralyzed.

That was just after she gave birth to her son, Xiao Xiao.

Unable to use chopsticks to feed herself, Xu attempted suicide. But her husband, who collects rubbish to support the family, encouraged her to survive.

Xu's son Xiao has washed her feet every day since he was five.
